Drywall and Plastering

Most remodeling projects involve drywall and plastering, typically in the form of interior wall repairs.

Drywall and Plastering Remodeling NY Services include but not limited to:

Before the 1950s home interior construction involved long wooden stripes called lathe to support heavy plaster walls. Subjected to years of moisture and temperature differences, plaster eventually disconnect from the support lathe and crumbled away. After the 1950s, drywall - also known as gypsum board, wallboard, or plasterboard, replaced heavy plaster in most houses for the finish construction of interior walls and ceilings. Traditional drywall is made of a paper liner wrapped around an inner core made from gypsum plaster mixed with fiber, paper or fiberglass, and water. A core of wet gypsum is sandwiched between two sheets of heavy paper or fiberglass mats. With a dry core, drywall makes a rigid and strong building material.

Mold may feed on moist paper of traditional drywall. Fiberglass drywall with its moisture-resistant gypsum core is also mold resistant. Although fiberglass drywall is typically found in rooms of high humidity such as bathrooms, it can also be used in any part of the home instead of traditional drywall.
